Here's another small success story, if there is follow-through.

Sorry I forgot to send her the URL for the USMA web site.

Dear Bruce, thanks for your comment. You are absolutely
right; we should include SI-metric units.

We are currently revising and expanding the map points,
and expect these additions to go up some time in late March.
I will be talking with our scientist taking the lead on this
project to see what we can do about this issue.

Thanks again for bringing it to our attention. I expect
the expanded map will be even more impressive/
frightening. Regards, Nancy Cole

Dear UCS:

I enjoyed viewing your web site at http://www.climatehotmap.org/. It is
great to see all these signs of global change from disparate fields
collected in one place. It paints quite an alarming picture.

I was disappointed, however, to see that all numbers were reported in
terms of units of measure that are now basically used only in the US.
Your web site is accessible internationally, but by not including SI
units, you make much of its content unintelligible to most of the world's
population. (Some Japanese friends told me recently that they had no
concept of what a "foot" or "mile" was. We shouldn't expect them to.)
Further, many of your viewers are at least conversant in science. The
scientific community is international, and uses SI units predominantly.

Please add SI units to your web site. When presenting information on the
World Wide Web, it's best to use World Wide Units.

See http://www.metricmethods.com/ or http://commerce.aip.org/metric.htm
for detailed information on SI-metric units.

Thanks,
Bruce
