This one is hard to believe but true...

Heard on CBC Toronto's broadcast (2001 02 14) of a Coronation Street
delayed (early/mid December) episode

The scene... a carpenter is on the phone in the 'Rovers Return' pub
relaying to those around commentary of a greyhound race... Jack (the
lad) Duckworth stands to win 60 000 pounds if a certain dog wins

The carpenter, describing the progress of the dog, says. 'It's two
metres behind.'

For 'Corrie Street', the world's longest lasting (and greatest) soap
opera, to go metric is progress indeed. Can the rest of Britain be that
far behind?
