To tell the truth--the whole truth--"precast concrete" and "magnificent
contemporary courthouse" can be used in the same sentence. Especially when
the conversation centers around the prestigious new Thomas F. Eagleton
Courthouse located in downtown St. Louis.

After the $202 million project was completed last summer....

One of the more unique elements of the job was that is was built using
metric measurements. "It caused very little problem, though," Isenhour says.
"There was some resistance at first, but we quickly became comfortable with
it." Before the courthouse construction began, Gate Bluegrass had completed
another project using the metric system that was shipped to London, England.
"It's very interesting," Isenhour notes. "We haven't seen another job that's
used metric measurements since then."
