Maybe.  But you very seldom see imperial units alone, but usually metric
alone.  Our experience in Canada was that opposition to metric only became
vocal when people were afraid that they would have to ask for their food to
be weighed out in kilograms and thus their ignorance would be evident.
There was no opposition to metric as long as people did not have to use it
but were merely exposed to it.
