I was at a presentation at the National Geographic last night in D.C. They
apparently were moving in a new exhibit and lying on one of the pallets were
three copies of the current issue (gorilla cover, Peru story, etc) of their
flagship yellow magazine, two in Norwegian and one in Danish. My daughter
and I looked through both versions in great detail and all units mentioned
were METRIC ONLY, no wombat anywhere. Units I recognized included
kilometers, meters, cm, cubic meters, hectares, and kilos (didn't see
"kilograms"). There was one mention of tons (spelled something like
tonnes), which I assumed was 1000 kg but had no way to confirm. The map
legends had kilometers only.

It was an eye-opener to me. Obviously NG is not totally adverse to SI
itself but caters to it's presumed audience. Their bookstore/sales office
wasn't open, but the person handling event tickets told me they published in
quite a number of languages.
