The USMA mail list was down for a bit, and so this did not get sent
back out when I posted it last night. If it does later, you might get a
"double".

While I'm thinking of it...
PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY EMAIL TO MAYOR RILEY OR ANYONE DOWN HERE ON THIS
TOPIC. I DON'T WANT THE MAYOR TO BE TIRED OF THE TOPIC BEFORE I SEE HIM.
****
It took a few emails and several phone calls but I have finally landed
an appointment to speak to the mayor of Charelston about making the
design of our new Cooper River Bridge metric.

This "100 year bridge" will be nearly 6 km long and, hopefully, 8 lanes
wide. The maximum clearance will be in the order of 42 m above mean
water. Charleston is, as I recall, the fourth largest port in the
United States in terms of value and bulk cargo "tonnage". The port
facilities lie mostly above the bridges being replaced in situ by this
new bridge.

My appointment is for only 15 minutes and will be a week from today.
I'm open to suggestions on presentation points. I've got my own list
but I've never held a monopoly on good ideas, so let's have 'em! Facts
(and citations) should lead the list, I would think.

Jim
