The last farthing was minted in 1956. It was of the "Wren" series, with a
wren on the reverse side and the usual picture of the monarch (in this case,
Elizabeth II) on the obverse side.
I can remember, towards the end of World War II, the controlled price of a
small brown loaf was fivepence farthing (5-1/4d).
