There are indeed many benefits to joining USMA. The organization goes
back decades and has played a large role in accomplishing what has been
done so far. It continues its work today and an overview of the USMA is
available at

You may wish to refer people to it, Daniel.

Speaking of support, I wonder how many people here, who routinely use
this mail list (for free), have sent in their membership dues. It costs
money to send people to Washington, DC to speak to congressmen and to
attend various meetings to stand up for the SI. Those people also
answer a lot of questions that the American Public asks.

The dues are only $30 per year ($15 for students). By comparison,
three trips to the movies for 6 h of entertainment would cost about
that much. So if anyone here spends 6 h over a year's time reading and
commenting here, they should feel that their dues are well spent when
they join.

In addition, membership provides a subscription to the Metric Today
newsletter, which provides more detailed and current information than
the link above. MT contents and samples of some back issues are
available at
        http://lamar.ColoState.edu/~hillger/mtoday.htm
