I think this article was originally published as satire by The Onion (a
humorous college "newspaper"), originally available at
www.theonion.com/onion3703/metric_system_thriving.html -- at least that's
how Google cached it. However, when I try to go to that URL, I get
redirected to the main page. BTW, I searched on
"metric system site:theonion.com".
I do remember seeing the article on their (I think) site, complete with
photographs of 9 mm pistols and 1 kg bags of cocaine. If you look at
their site you'll get a feeling for their type of humor.
