While the 24 hour clock is not metric, per se, it is a world standard and hence the 
reason I'm posting this.

Note the use of "p.m." after "14:45".  Most likely this is simply redundancy to make 
sure that everyone is aware that "14:45" is a time that occurs in the afternoon.

Occasionally in the Canadian newspapers one sees the redundant phrase "metric tonne" 
just to clarify that it is not a British Imperial short "ton".
