Hello,

A recent discussion about web-based map servers on an electronic mailing
list pointed me to your web site at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/compass/.
I am quite impressed with how it is set up and with its functionality.

I have one comment: the scale bars on your maps are only in miles. I
prefer kilometers, and I'm sure that since your web site is accessible
internationally, you must get other visitors with the same preference.
Some may not even know how far a mile is. The International System of
Units (SI, or "metric system") is a world-wide standard and is
understood by the largest number of people. In my view, information on
the World Wide Web should be provided in World Wide Units. Could you
either add an option for metric, or simply provide a dual-unit scale bar?

Thanks. When I next visit my relatives in Minnesota, I'm sure I'll use
your site before my trip!

Bruce
