We should use words for the integer and single number
for the decimal.
For ex - 1.80 should be pronounced as "one point eight
zero" or just "one point eight" and not "one point
eighty".

Similary a number 235.81 should be pronounced as "two
hundred and thirty five point eight one" and not "two
hundred and thirty five point eighty one"

Please correct me if I am wrong.

The correct answer is "un mtre quatre-vingt".

Now if you want to be totally correct, Norm, you should write "un
mtre quatre-vingts" with a "s" at the end of vingt. The rule is that
when 20 or 100 are in a number implying a multiplication, they are in
the plural form, except if they are followed by another number or if
it is a date.

Examples :
        1,80 m = "un mtre quatre-vingts"
        1,83 m = "un mtre quatre-vingt trois"
600 km = "six cents kilomtres"
650 km = "six cent cinquante kilomtres"
en 1904 = "en mille neuf cent quatre"
en 1900 = "en mille neuf cent"

I accept this is "advanced" knowledge, ignored by many educated
French speaking people !

Congratulations, Norm.
