Jim:

Reply to All, which is needed (for Outlook and several other email programs)
to send a reply to the list server, also puts the original sender's email
address in the To field of the reply.

Most of us (including me) delete that address. Some, apparently, can't be
bothered (or are blissfully unaware of the problem). My own view is that it
is good manners to delete it.
