I believe in standardization of measurement. Therefore
I am for metrication.
One place where we seem to have less and less
standardization is in the testing of students in our
public schools. When I was little, things were simple.
All the national tests would give you a percentile
ranking for the student in each subject. That was
standardized. That made sense. That I understood.
But now a school district tries to confuse the
parents. You get test scores which are not capable of
being compared across the county or state or country.
Is it off-topic or is it consistent and part of what
we want to do for us to promote standardization of
public school tests through advocating that all tests
always be capable of reducing to one's percentile
ranking?
