John, Han and Jim:
v.MW is an abbreviation for vom Messwert, meaning "of the reading." It's
used in accuracy/tolerance figures -- as in 0,05% v.MW.
It is, however, an improper usage. The correct form is v.M.
There is also v.E (sometimes incorrectly written as v.EW), for vom Endwert
(of the end value).
My source for the correct usage is the two-volume H. Wernicke Lexikon der
Elektronik, Nachrichten- und Elektrotechnik (Dictionary of Electronics,
Communications and Electrical Engineering), published by Rohde und Schwartz.
Having been in my new house for only just over two months, I hadn't yet
unpacked all my books. I went to the garage and dug that one out of a box
just this evening.
