These films are described by SMPTE standards. A likely candidate is SMPTE
194-1997, MOTION-PICTURE FILM (35-mm) - PROJECTOR USAGE - RELEASE PRINTS
HAVING FOUR PERFORATIONS PER FRAME. There are several other SMPTE standards
that describe aspects of "35-mm" [sic] film. One of them surely must say
how wide the film is.
