In our course at the U of A (University of Alberta) dealing with this subject of measurements in the third year of engineering, that's the technical term that is used all the time to mean the decimal place with which instruments would measure certain physical properties. There is even a diagram that is used to illustrate the concept in which "precision" is associated with what you mean here, indeed, but not with the number of decimal places a measurement is reported as.
