It just so happens that the car is hard metric.  The true dimension is 3 m.
Whoever converted it to feet, rounded it from 9.8425..... on the calculator
to 9.8.

Seeing that the vehicle is a true metric product, the metric should either
be used exclusively or in the primary position.  This also explains why they
used decimal feet and not feet and inches.  The person who converted knew
how to go from metres to feet, but could not convert decimal feet to inches.
As a result, they left it in decimal feet.

You might want to write them back and point this out.
