I was in Castlebar for my cousin's wedding last September. It's gorgeous,
isn't it? County Galway takes some beating, though!!

I fail to understand the apparent reluctance to go fully metric though,
having embraced the EU so strongly. Have they experienced resistance to
change as we have?

Here in England, stories from Ireland are not given much space in our media,
therefore not much about Ireland gets reported in our papers.

One example was that we were delayed going home by one day because of the
protests about high fuel costs (they want to try filling up over here if
they believe THEIR fuel costs are high)!!! As far as I know, this story of
the blockade went largely unreported in the British media.

Hopefully, Ireland will see the benefits of total changeover to metrication
and do it as soon as possible instead of being held back by losers living in
the past as we have been.

Regards,

Steve.
