Anyway, it now looks that it will all be over in Ireland in 2005. The
Department of the Environment, which is largely responsible for all past
delays now cooperates. Then all road signs will be metric and such claims
will be useless,

Yes, I think that the lawyer from the body or organization which placed the
metric head room sign and who contests the claim will ask the complainant
to enter the stand and then will test him about his understanding of
Imperial units.
If he flunks it, too bad for him as he will loose his claim and pay through
