In reviewing my Canadian Metric Association "Metric Message" of 1979 June I
found:
"Liberia has officially decided to convert to the metric system, according
to an April 9 letter freom the country's director of standards to the U.S.
National Bureau of Standards. A national committee has been established by
the President of Liberia."

That leaves Myanmar (Burma) in the same legal position as the United
States. Burma legalized the use of the metric system for all purposes in
1920. Travellers report that the road signs to the Rangoon airport are in
kilometres.
