BWMA's aims are to:
  • To promote and enhance understanding that the metric system is not merely a means of measurement but a political philosophy and tool. To discover who in politics and industry supports metric conversion, and why.
  • To provide cogent arguments against the use of the metric system, based on the findings of research and analysis. To back these arguments with hard evidence.
  • To identify and publicise laws or legal loopholes that may be used to obstruct metric conversion where it is proposed, and to force reversals of metrication where it has already occurred.
  • To provide a central gathering point for information relating to metric conversion, and to promote and co-ordinate activity. To provide a permanent resource of information and facts.
  • To monitor metric encroachment in the United States, Canada and Ireland, both in terms of its legal status and in its use by private industry and public authorities. To highlight instances of non-metric units being used elsewhere in the world.
If you are new to metric issues, please explore this site and make up your own mind. We hope you that you will support the fightback against metric conversion and register your support in our metric survey.

BWMA operates two other internet sites: www.footrule.org, our news and features magazine, and users.aol.com/footrule, our library of articles and features published in BWMA's journal The Yardstick
