This is a rather truncated list of units to be saved - viz. ounces and
pounds. These were presumably avoirdupois ounces and pounds. But, what of
troy pounds and troy ounces and grains, carats, drams, stones,
hundredweight, tons (short and long).

What about inches, feet, yards, fathoms, rods, chains, furlongs, statute
miles and nautical miles??

Let us not allow to fall by the wayside of modernization, area units such as
square inches, square feet, square yards, acres and square miles.

AND, let us be sure to preserve our volume measures such as teaspoons,
tablespoons, fluid ounces, cups, pints, quarts, gallons, cubic feet, cubic
yards, and barrels. Remember, these can all be converted from one to the
other - SAVE them!!!

To stay in style, powerwise, we should specify the preservation of
foot-pounds per minute, British thermal units per hour, horse power, tons of
refrigeration and boiler horsepower. Think of it, we can express the power
of a light bulb in any one of these various measures!

And, while we are preserving this quagmire of disparate units of measure,
why not recover our lost Pounds, Shillings and Pence? Surely, their
[apparent] demise can not be neglected at this critical juncture. If we
give up on them, what will be the prospect for all the others?
