I understand that is the way it works. John!! If they cannot afford to fund
the appeal, then, obviously, the appeal cannot take place!!
As I said, some people have said that �500,000 at least will have to be
raised for a successful appeal and, as far as I can gather, so far they have
only raised �200,000, leaving a fair shortfall to overcome by November 19!!
I may be wrong, but it increasingly looks to me as if the Metric Martyr's
may have insufficient funds for an appeal!!

then?
Also, people might not want to throw good money into something that can't be
won. I'm sure the average person on the street, even if they prefer to use
imperial, have no trouble asking for what they want and getting it. So, the
appeal to them is not important.
Only the real diehard nut cases will support such an appeal.
