On Thursday, there was a K-mart ad in the newspaper.  One of the items offered at discount was Listerine mouthwash.  The ad stated the size only as "500ML".  No other units listed.

Today, in the paper was an MSNBC map/graph showing the concentration of land mines in Afghanistan in various regions.  The units used were "land mines per square km".  Maybe it was too hard to convert the graph to miles, or maybe it was the media's use of metric when dealing with bad things, like drugs in grams.  But whatever, metric was used.
