I highly doubt the support person who responded in the first place will respond back if your response goes to him.  He is obviously an anti-metric luddite and preferrs to spead the FFU Gospel worldwide.  If you wish to persue this issue, you need to go over his head. 
 
Like i said, I doubt they will want to drop the inch designation, but i feel if you can at least get them to refer to the ISO spec and the true 80 mm designation as the prime descriptor, we would at least have won the battle.
