2001-12-20 If I remember correctly, the mass of the 2 € coin is 8.5 g. I'm sure they were going after mass and it turned out that the diameter needed to get that mass was 25.25 mm. I was not trying to say it should be a rational 25 mm, my comment was that it is so close to an inch, Americans would say it is an inch.
