2001-12-30 I meant until after the "dust settles" concerning the exchange of the national cash to the Euro cash. This change is the most visable. Just like metric.
The "hidden" conversion to metric that has taken place in the US, that 40 % we hear about is invisable to the masses. Just like the Euro was since 1999. It was there, the value of each of the national currencies was fixed to the Euro, but to most people on the street, the thinking was still in the national curriencies. The conversion of the national currencies parallels the conversion to metric. Once the people on the street have adapted, then we can say the conversion is a true success and use this example to put shame to America's continuing excuses.
