publication. I'll bet if you get a response back, they will tell you the
publication is directed towards US travelers.

Except that the US visitors will find nothing on any sign in France, giving distances in miles. So what good does that do them?
In our computer we have information on various Canadian stations where we stop some of our trains. I put everything there in km. A few people squawked. I told them that they will find no signs in miles in Canada, and no miles on the odometers on any cars they rent -- and therefore showing anything in miles would be useless to them. It helps to tell people that a station is 8 km off the 401, and when they take that exit off the 401, they will see a sign saying "name of town 8".
