My 17 year old (US-Maryland) is much more conversant with metric, and thinks ifp is strange.  He missed one of his math questions on the SAT because it asked how many ounces in a gallon.  (He guessed 64.)  Two observations --

- missing just one SAT question can make a big difference in one's score, and

- what  the hell is a question like that DOING on the SAT anyway?
