We have had double pricing too for many months in The Netherlands too. But as long as I had no euros in my pocket I primarily continued to think in guilders. I will make the change now and I am going to get my first euros from the cash machine later today!

As the euro was not available yet, I did not bother as I would always have to convert between the two. There was another way to prepare: when I went to Ireland every year, I set up the budget in Irish pounds, and in Ireland I only thought in Irish pounds. I never converted back to guilders, except when I really wanted to make a comparison about a special item, for instance, compare the price of a computer in Ireland and in the Netherlands. In italy most large stores show prices in ITL(EUR) since 2000 and since october in EUR(ITL) , and invoice is issued in EUR . BTW the phone number for changeover information is 800-28-02-02 (28 February 2002 is the final date for circulation of ITL)
