To all: Well, it is one month to go to the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. KSL-TV (http://www.ksltv.com) - the NBC affiliate in Utah, hosted a prime time show this evening (19.00 MDT) called "Eyewitness to the Game" (dubbed after their news slogan "KSL Eyewitness News"). They showed the preparations going on at the station and in the city for the upcoming Games.
Well, since Catherine and I were in class during the show, we recorded it. Right now we are watching it, and we just saw a short clip on the weather reporting during the Games. Mark Eubank, a chief meteorologist, explained how the forecasting works: it has to be for every hour of the day, etc. And he said, that "it has to be done in metric, because that's what the rest of the world uses." How is that for the SI promo? Well, only time will show what format will be used in newscasts, but the beginnings are good. Cheers, Nikolay P.S. Jim! I am emailing Mark Eubank by this week-end to further SI encouragement.
