2002-01-20 It's interesting that the BWMA (on their www.bwmaonline.org site) refer to the TABD as an anti-metrication organisation!
Chris -- UK Metric Association: http://www.metric.org.uk/ Of course they are. They went to a great effort to get another 10 year delay. They are hoping to get the EU to drop the issue entirely. If not, they will just keep pressing for delays. Look, it has been 2 years since they got their delay with promises to get the US laws amended to allow metric only, and nothing has happened. Nor will it. As I said before, and I will repeat. The 10 year delay will allow the EU time to become a very powerful competitor to the US. The TABD and other US sponsored organisations of the same ilk are playing with fire and are going to get burned badly. Argentina is so furious with the US for not coming to its aid, it is earnestly looking for ways to form a common market within South America with the US on the outside looking in. They have recently proposed a currency union with Brasil. I've given up hope on the US metricating on its own. All the begging and pleading and use of logic is going nowhere. Those little drops some of you are so proud of just evaporate over time. There is no progress. That is why I keep saying I'm going to wait for the EU to become stronger and become the big bully and force the US through its eventual economic might to do the job for us. John
