MINISTERS OPTIMISTIC OVER EU'S ECONOMIC FUTURE
Optimism about Europe's economic future prevailed at the conclusion of the Brussels meeting of economic and finance ministers of the European Union's 15 member nations. Spain's finance minister Rodrigo Rato presented his plans for Spain's six-month presidency of the EU, asserting that he believed the worst of the economic slump was over. Italian finance minister Giulio Tremonti praised his Spanish counterpart for drawing up excellent plans, and pledged his government's full support. European monetary affairs commissioner Pedro Solbes declared the need of quick implementation of the proposed structural reforms to boost growth. |
