Congratulations, Jim !

With due respect to your immense capability, may I suggest a little
correction ?

You translated the phrase "ils furent officiellement adopts en
France par le dcret sur les units de mesure du 26 juillet 1919" as
"they were officially adopted in France for multiples of the units of
measure on 1919 July 26". You missed the fact that the prefixes were
adopted by a "dcret" (decree ?), i.e. a legal action.

Incidentally, I had the opportunity to visit the BIPM in Svres the
other week - I was not shown the Meter nor the Kilogram, the lady who
welcomed me had only one of the three necessary keys !

Discussing with people there, I measured the respect they have for
Henri Moreau - who was not director of BIPM when he wrote his book :
he was in charge of the BIPM "scientific secretariat".
