Dear All,

A few days ago I visited the Geelong Art Gallery, and in their bookshop I
found an item called 'History by the Meter' and subtitled 'The past 2000
years of world history unfold on the 2 meters of the >> Historic Folding
Rule<<

It is an interesting concept. Each millimetre of the two metre rule
represents one year of history and a century is covered in 100mm.

Unfortunately the makers decided to add an inch scale to the reverse side.
This has no apparent correlation between the lengths and the dates and it
required two numerical scales to be added. One wonders why they added the
inch scale at all.

I liked the idea of the Rule of History but I didn't buy one as I
deliberately don't use double sided rules.

For those interested in obtaining further information it was made by
