Congratulations to Jim Frysinger from USMA!
 ____________

IEEE President, Raymond D. Findlay, has announced the elevation of James
Frysinger to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. Dr. Findlay states "Only 7% of
our approximately 377,000 IEEE members hold this grade which requires
experience reflecting professional maturity and significant professional
achievements." Included among his many pursuits is his work on two IEEE
standards committees, both related to SI.

As a member of IEEE Standards Coordinating Committee 14, Frysinger chairs
the SCC14.3 subcommittee which is about to put forth two
standards for balloting: P1541, "Standard Prefixes for Binary Multiples" and
P260.1, "Standard Letter Symbols for Units of Measurement" He also serves as
an IEEE nonvoting member on the ASTM/IEEE Committee for Maintaining SI 10,
which is about to ballot a revised edition of SI 10.
Frysinger is the webmaster for both of these committees.

He is also a member of the American Welding Society A1 Committee on Metric
Practice and helped to develop the latest edition of the AWS Metric Practice
Guide for the Welding Industry, which has just been
 published.
