Please, John, relay the following to this individual. Canada has stopped its progression towards full metrication thanks to the US who keeps bombarding us with its mediocre ounces, feet, inches and whatever else. Our construction industry practically reverted ALL its progress back to medieval times. Several food industries now comply with nice, round ifp sizes such as hideous 1.89 L containers, 454 g packages, etc, etc, etc.
The US has successfully imposed its "standards" on TV sizes, monitors, floppy drive sizes, print font sizes on the rest of us. A newly-formed industry, treadmills, now come ONLY in mph (and to my dismay, even in my home country, Brazil - I was absolutely infuriated with that!!!). Does he need more examples? I could certainly rake a huge number of them. Just give me some time and I'll find those (Ah, just remembered now about scrapbooking, another insidious introduction to Germany, and other countries in Europe which are now marketing the 30.5 by 30.5 crap, etc! :-( ).
