I have just done a rather massive update to my SI references page. The change involved was the addition of a significant amount of explanatory material. The goal I had in mind was to help the reader (especially my students) put the various standards into perspective.
I've been dealing with standards in one way or another since the 1960s and it has dawned on me that for some reason my students do not inately possess what I have gleaned from some forty years of practice. This discussion now appearing on my page provides a snippet of my insight into the world of standards and will hopefully get them started.
