Those who posted on the IT forum are a lovely bunch indeed, all of them
exactly as John described them. That thread is closed now.
Yet, I am not willing to tar all Americans with the same brush. I have
encountered both the Ugly Americans and the internationally thinking
Americans, usually when I was in Ireland and on the internet. In my own
country, two examples of the second category. On a day trip to the
southwest, I met an American who 100% supported SI. In 1972 a brother of
mine was marrying; another brother took an American girl home with him. She
was not one of those who live for 10 years in a metric environment and just
only use and know ifp when they leave. No, she was militantly pro-metric.
On these forums you always see the same people who post, either the Ugly
Americans or their decent opposite. I put my hope in the latter and may they
prevail in the end.
But is is because of the Ugly Americans (UA) I think that the attitude of
the Maporama people is so disgusting and craven. These French people have
not a drop of self esteem in their body and so they gave in to that category
when the UA and the UB demanded ifp on that site and made their website a
crying shame! And the Cousteaus were of the same ilk. Has anybody
seen their films? They are as beautiful as NGM is. However: what units did
they
use in their French-accented English? The same units you find in the
American
edition of the NGM!

 .....Americans have become global thinkers.....

What Americans are you referring to? Certainly not the citizens of the
United States? Who are you trying to hose? What a laugh!
