Extensive signature files could indeed be considered as unnecessary clutter. That is a genuine problem and concern. That's why my suggestion really is that, we'd be interested in a little info, but each one has to do what suits his or her own situation. Do you find mine objectionably long? I suppose I don't need to add the cutesy metric message along with my occupation and location. I could shorten it by putting several things one one line (see second and third signatures below). Is that better?
