Dear Bill, I'm afraid you completely misinterpreted my comment. What I meant was that log x value depends on the base, and so would intervals. So what I was referring to was the following (using your own examples below): log 2.5 (in base 10) = 0.4 is different from log 2.5 (in base e) = 0.9! OBS.: In essence, all your 30/12, 75/30... "couples" boil down to a single simple log of 2.5. Hence, if one wants a nice value for intervals, say, a neat 10, or 1, such intervals would differ depending on the base of the logarithmic.
