I wonder if any of you were able to catch the 07:00
to 07:30 h segment of the Today Show on NBC this morning.
They had a live interview with a Boston Globe
Reporter who was shot while reporting the fighting in Ramallah. When he
described his situation from his hospital bed in Jerusalem, he gave his entire
account of where he was relative to the Israeli positions and Palestinian
positions in Ramallah only in metres He was 150 m from the israeli
positions and 50 m from the Palestinian. He even gave metre by
metre accounts of his movements. I swear, he said metre at least 10
times. I'm surprised Matt Lauer didn't have a stroke. Matt is
pro-FFU.
I wonder if when his reports appear in the Boston
globe if his editor "dumbs down" his use of metres to read as yards.
In reports in the news covering the situation in Israel, the use of yards is
used exclusively, instead of the units feet as would normally be used.
This tells you immediately that the original text was in metres and changing the
word metre to yard is a lot easier then converting metres to feet.
