My dear friend, Louis. Like you I do share some sympathy towards our beloved kilogram. However, please understand that just because there ARE indeed more pressing matters to attend this should not preclude us from continuing in the path of progress. If it's within our power to improve upon our system to ultimately render it as close to perfection as one can get I humbly submit that we should proceed in that direction. Besides, we need to stop treating this thing from a "cultural perspective", i.e. to stop getting "attached" to scientific concepts. Please remember that science is not art, and if better theories come up we should be willing to let go of the old, because it would just be the right thing to do, my friend, as much we would be "fond" of the old. Otherwise we would be just as guilty as the BWMA folks for resisting changes. Please, at least just think about it. :-) Marcus Is your boss reading your email? ....Probably Keep your messages private by using Lycos Mail. Sign up today at http://mail.lycos.com
