Adrian Jadic wrote in USMA 19610 to urge that Metric Today be printed on A3
paper format. I have just now dug out my file of Metric Today and its
predecessors back to April 1966. It started as "Metric Association
Newsletter" printed on 11" by 17", Editor Louis F. Sokol. It changed to A3
formtat with the May 1973 issue. The name changed to "U.S. Metric
Association Newsletter" in February 1975. Before 1980 July/August the
Newsletter had been mailed from Boulder, CO. With that issue the typography
changed, the name became "USMA Newsletter" and the Newsletter was mailed
from Altadena, CA. With the 1980 Nov-Dec issue the format again became
11"X12". In 1990 the title became "Metric Today". In the 1992 Sep-Oct
issue Louis Sokol resigned as Editor and turned the jpb over to Valerie
Antoine, who had done the typography for the previous 10 years. Louis Sokol
became a USMA member in 1947 and served as Secretary from 1966 to 1969,
then as President from 1970 to 1978. He died on 1997 October 11.
