I can think of many reasons why M. Le Pen should be voted against, as can 
you, I'm sure! From the press accounts over here, it would seem that the 
people of France are so angry at his relative success (against M. Jospin, 
especially) that I would expect a huge backlash and a very strong vote for M. 
Chirac.

One cannot imagine the French wanting to go back to the toise et ligne.
