> British reference: "Weights and Measures &c. Act 1976" Her Majesty's > Stationery Office. There are claims on various websites that the Weights and Measures Act 1963 is relevant. I wanted to get an online version of that act. There is a lot of juicy UK government data available on the web. Unfortunately, it only goes back about 15 years and therefore does not contain the 1963 Act. In any case, a current definition is in the Weights and Measures Act 1985 (Metrication) (Amendment) Order 1994: "YARD = 0.9144 metre" "Inch = 1/36 yard" http://www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si1994/Uksi_19942866_en_2.htm See also: http://www.tradingstandards.net/pages/metrology.htm -- Terry Simpson Human Factors Consultant [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.connected-systems.com Phone: +44 7850 511794
