Terry Simpson in USMA 19862 mentioned the Weights and Measures Act of 1963

>"Inch = 1/36 yard"

The Weights and Measures Act of 1963 in Schedule 1 defines the yard as
0.9144 metre. Schedule 2, Part I is "Description of United Kingdom primary
standard of the yard", and Part III is "Description of United Kingdom
primary standard of the metre".
