One millilitre of mercury (Hg) has a mass of 13.6 grams (from memory). Since 1 fl.oz. = 29.574 mL (from a convenient conversion table I keep handy), one ounce is (1/29.574) of a millilitre. Thus the mass of one fl.oz. of Hg is 13.6 g / 29.574 which equals 0.460 g (by my handy little calculator). Now what is the mass of a gallon of Hg? How about a firkin? A hogshead? A barrel (oil barrel)? Oh, help me BWMA, help me!!! Regards, Bill Hooper college physics teacher (retired), USA (Florida) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Do It Easy, Do It Metric! +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
