I'm aware of the issue of competitiveness involving businesses. Sometimes we tend to forget that it's a "dog eat dog" world out there (sigh... unfortunately, as much as I wished it wasn't... :-S).
Nonetheless, Nat, the problem here is that US businesses simply don't care if they're being uncompetitive or not. What I mean is, most of them may rather powerforce their way onto others than to cave in to such seemingly challenging task of metricating their operations. If they can force the rest of the competitors to do things "their way" they'd be coming ahead. It's like: well, if they have this competitive advantage on their side (metric), let's force them to lose it by having them use *our* inefficient ways, and since we use such inefficient system efficiently (S-I-C, but sadly true!...) or much better than they ever would, we'd win in the end!!! :-( Oh, well... @!#$^@#$%#$ >Business as usual. >... Indeed, if they can... "outsmart" their competitors marketingwise... That's all it takes. Americans are (unfortunately) the greatest marketers in the entire planet. So much so that they succeed in getting people to accept idiocies like ifp measurements! Grrrrrr...
